Sumy State University (SumDU) is a state accredited (nationally accredited) higher education institution of a classical type located in the city of Sumy, North-Eastern part of Ukraine. University follows the ideology of a research educational and social oriented complex institution where a large-scale international cooperation and the focus on innovation technologies such as ICT are prioritized. Educational and research activity of SumDU is comprehensive and embraces a wide scope of areas from engineering and ICT to natural sciences, medicine and humanities. 

SumDU is highly ranked at national level, enters the TOP-group (3%) of leading universities of the world and is classified as a university with high research intensity according to the QS World University Rankings and is included into THE World University Rankings by Times Higher Education. 

SumDU is a signatory of Magna Charta Universitatum and a reliable member of most authoritative international organizations  International Association of Universities, European University Association, Eurasian Universities Association, etc. 

SumDU is a reliable partner for joint projects in frames of international grant programmes of EU (Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Jean Monnet, Erasmus+, Horizon 2020), United Nation Development Programme, British Council, the World Bank, bilateral scientific and research projects, grants of private foundations.

Basing on a substantial experience of international cooperation SSU has adopted its Internationalization Strategy for 2019-2025. One of the strategic goals is to develop high quality and internationally recognized study programmes. 

SumDU develops an institutional culture where the importance of quality assurance and enhancement is strongly emphasized. The University has developed and implemented a continuous quality improvement strategy and internal quality management system which is based on high academic standards and principles of integrity and transparency.

The institutional strategy, policy, and procedures provide the framework for quality of programmes, student admission, progression, recognition, teaching staff, learning resources and student support, information management, public information. University information system services allow monitoring of the quality of its activities and the adoption of effective management decisions for its improvement. To ensure the effective management of the quality of educational activities, internal software products have been developed at the university. SumDU has its own MOOC service “Examenarium” built based on their distance learning system “Salamstein”. The system can be scaled to fit the needs of the projects with additional hardware equipment.
