Traditionally, in December, before Christmas, the Peace Light of Bethlehem is brought to Lviv Polytechnic. This year, it was brought today, December 19, on Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Day. The Lviv Plast members, together with the chaplain Fr. Ihor Khomichak, handed over this Fire, which symbolizes peace, harmony, goodness and light, to the University Rector, Professor Yuriy Bobalo.
The Peace Light of Bethlehem is a symbolic fire from the birthplace of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, which is constantly burning. This is a memory of the Son of God who come to earth, and symbolizes love, goodness, peace, joy, and hope, which we need so much now, in times of war. Scouts spread it all over the world on the eve of the Christmas. Candles for the Holy Supper are lit with fire from Bethlehem, it is taken to orphanages, hospitals, to the front, so that all, who are far from their families, can feel the warmth of the Star of Bethlehem and be filled with hope.
