The commemoration of Taras Shevchenko and Ivan Franko, the greatest Ukrainians, at the University level, was discussed at the regular meeting of the Prosvita Cultural Association Board which was held last week.
As the tradition, on the 2nd of March there will be held the Shevchenko’s poetry recitation contest under the title “To the Kobzar’s coronal” and on the 10th of March a gala Shevchenko evening will take place, also the students in the institutes will do the wall newspapers.
The ideas about the commemoration of the Ivan Franko’s 160th anniversary of the birth and the 100th anniversary of the death (2016 was announced as the Kamenyar year) were discussed in details. The recitation contest of Franko’s poetry, a competition for the best wall paper among institutes, various flash mobs, the gala evening and the theatrical performances are included at the advance list of the events. The members of the Prosvita Cultural Association supported the idea from the university administration to arrange a trip “Along Franko’s paths” for students and lecturers.
A necessity of further polytechnics mobilization to support the wounded soldiers was discussed separately. There also was a report on the help to wounded servicemen who are staying on the rehabilitation in Lviv hospital.
