Every two years Polytechnic hosts traditional International Conference «Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources as Alternative to Primary Energy Sources in the Region» which takes place on April 4. Such an event is already organized for the tenth time by the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems.
According to Mykhailo Semerak, the Head of the plenary session and the Head of HETPP Department, since the last conference there have been significant changes in the energy sector, in particular, there was approved the Energy Strategy of Ukraine till 2035: Security, Energy Efficiency, Competitive Ability, according to which there must be a substantial change in the energy system – the replacement of nuclear power units.
The topics of the conference are quite varied. Scientists discussed wind energy, biomass, solar and geothermal energy and energy conservation. They also talked about the role of regional energy in ensuring energy security of Ukraine, environmental aspects of energy saving and so on.
Among the distinguished guests who took part in the conference there were Henryk Sobchuk, the Head of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kyiv, Andrii Yakubovskyi, the Head of the Energy Saving Department of Lviv Regional State Administration and Ihor Vasiunyk, People’s Deputy of Ukraine. The latter spoke about the role of the conference in Ukrainian energy policy.
Henryk Sobchuk told the audience about the peculiarities of cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish Academies of Sciences and invited our scholars to actively cooperate, assuring that Polish colleagues warmly welcome such proposals.
