Ms. Pavliuk shared the secrets of successful implementation of the ideas of the Lviv Bureau for European Integration, a municipal enterprise of the Lviv City Council, established to promote the integration of Lviv with the European Union.
It is the first bureau in Ukraine to promote the interests of local government in the process of Ukraine's integration into the EU. In 2023, with its participation, the Lviv City Office was opened in Brussels, which aims to synchronize integration processes at the intermunicipal level and become a platform for partnership between Ukrainian cities and EU cities. In general, the key mission of the Office is to integrate Lviv with the EU environment.
The speaker outlined the areas of work of the Bureau, including the following:
- Strengthening the institutional capacity of local governments to participate in EU programs and international cooperation.
- Cooperation with European institutions, international organizations, and associations to attract EU expertise and resources.
- Promotion of European integration processes and values.
- Cooperation with partners to implement European practices.
Olena Pavliuk spoke about the current projects of the Bureau in the field of European integration, namely: EUCation - a training course on the basics of European integration for representatives of local government and civil society, which aims to help understand the basic ideas and principles of the European Union, familiarize them with the possibilities of EU grant programs, teach them how to formulate project applications, conduct business communication, and present projects.
The European Integration Hub is a multifunctional platform where Lviv residents and internally displaced persons have the opportunity to establish cooperation with representatives of European cities, European institutions and NGOs, and participate in EU programs to improve socio-economic living conditions, self-realization and sustainable development.
The Center for Advanced Studies is a multifunctional scientific, technical, medical, and educational center based on the UNBROKEN humanity ecosystem, created to adopt the best international practices in science, medicine, and technology, to engage professionals from various fields in research, experiments, and innovative developments to help Ukrainians affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Olena Pavliuk named the following key achievements of the Lviv Office for European Integration: 3rd place in the European Capital of Innovation competition; holding the UNBROKEN Emergency Summit; cooperation with UNICEF to promote European integration in Lviv; signing a memorandum with the Ukrainian Volunteer Service to establish a National Volunteer Hub in Lviv. In 2023, 936 conference events took place in Lviv with the assistance of the Bureau.
