At Lviv Polytechnic there was a meeting of the NiX management, Oleh Matviikiv, First Vice-Rector of the University, and Dmytro Fedasiuk, Head of the Department of Software, ICSIT. The event took place on September 29. As a result, a framework cooperation agreement was signed.
This agreement was preceded by a two-year collaboration between the Department of Software and NiX company. Both sides are interested in training professionals who can skillfully develop computer games on the Unreal platform. Therefore, the company provided the faculty of the Department with an internships and helped to develop methodological support for the course «Computer Game Development». Also this spring, the company workers led a circle for the second-year students majoring in 121 «Software Engineering» to develop computer games on the Unreal platform.
At the meeting, during the discussion of further cooperation, Dmytro Fedasiuk stressed that the university’s greatest need is to involve practitioners in teaching. So he invited NiX experts to give lectures to students to supplement the theoretical knowledge they receive at the university with real cases. This combination helps to improve the quality of training, increases entrants’ interest and improves the ranking of the Department. They also discussed the possibility of creating training laboratories at Lviv Polytechnic.
The company’s representatives noted that they are also interested in developing the teaching skills of their employees who succeed in such activities. Among the important skills of modern IT professionals, the company’s representatives noted – the ability to learn, the ability to communicate and the ability to work in a team. Therefore, the cooperation between the university and the company will create additional opportunities for students.
While communicating with the representatives of the NiX company, the First Vice-Rector Oleh Matviikiv emphasized that the Department of Software is one of the best and most powerful in our university. This is proved, in particular, by the practicality of graduate diploma projects as well as by the fact that during their study many students get employed in the best IT companies.
Discussing the issues of further cooperation, the participants of the meeting agreed to jointly work out ways to strengthen and increase the practical component in the training of specialists. NiX representatives stressed that university education is extremely important, as it ensures the overall development of young people. Given the dynamism and variability of life, the specialist must have basic knowledge, be able to constantly learn and easily adapt.
