International round table «Kazimierz Twardowski and modern ethics» took place online

The annual International Round Table «Kazimierz Twardowski and Modern Ethics» took place on February 11, 2022. It was on February 11, 1938 that Professor Kazimierz Twardowski, the founder of the Lviv-Warsaw School, passed away. The Department of Philosophy, Lviv Polytechnic, and the Lviv Philosophical Society named after Kazimierz Twardowski decided to commemorate the outstanding philosopher of Lviv by holding annual round tables.

Ethical ideas, principles and ideals of Kazimierz Twardowski and representatives of the Lviv-Warsaw school were discussed at this year’s scientific meeting. Professor Anna Brożek, the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw, director of the Research Center of the Lviv-Warsaw School of the same university, reported on the peculiarities of the analysis of social justice in the Twardowski School of Philosophy. Doctor of Philosophy Yurii Mielkov, the Institute of Higher Education, the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences in Kyiv, focused in his report on the duality of ethics and the value dimensions of modern open science. Independent researcher Yaroslav Petik from Kyiv reported on the possibility of mathematical evaluation of morals and values. Professor Viktor Petrushenko, president of the Institute of Philosophy, Logic, and Sociology in Lviv, focused on Kazimierz Twardowski ethical views, including his attempts to build an «independent ethic», the recognition of the absoluteness of ethical principles, etc.
