Yesterday, on 10 July 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine held a working meeting with stakeholders to discuss proposals and comments from research-performing organisations (in particular, those provided by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and national branch academies of sciences) on the draft Methodology for Research Assessment of research and higher education institutions with a view to its revision and improvement.
The meeting was chaired and moderated by Deputy Minister Denys Kurbatov. The report by Hryhorii Mozolevych, Director General of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science, was followed by a lengthy discussion, which was challenging but extremely necessary and constructive. Representatives of the Open4UA project team (funded under the Erasmus+ program of the EU) also took part in it, as they had been actively involved in the development of the methodology.
We hope that the results of yesterday's meeting will be an important step towards an effective reform of the research assessment system in Ukraine based on EU best practices and the principles of the global Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) and will contribute to the EU integration of the National education and science system.
