Last year, the Department of Motor Vehicle Transport, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Lviv Polytechnic, launched cooperation with the German company Knorr-Bremse – the absolute leader in the market of brake systems for both rail and truck vehicles. The next online meeting took place on February 21, 2022. It was attended by Andreas Wimmer, Vice President, Systems, Technology and Innovation, Knorr-Bremse, and representatives of the Department of Motor Vehicle Transport.
Mr. Wimmer expressed concern and condolences over the hostilities in Ukraine and wished success at a difficult time for the country. He also stated the company’s readiness to improve the material and technical base of the Department, including the transfer of modern equipment for detailed study of the structure and operation of pneumatic brake systems of cars, as well as for basic skills in diagnosing and conducting research. The company has promised to provide technical documentation and training materials related to pneumatic brake systems for use in the training process.
Bohdan Kindratskyi, Head of the Department of Motor Vehicle Transport, discussed with Mr. Wimmer the possibilities of involving the company’s leading specialists in conducting courses, internships for academics and students of the Department, including acquaintance with modern technologies at the company, which is an innovative developer of advanced electronic and pneumatic truck systems.
Mr. Wimmer expressed readiness to accept academics from the Department of Motor Vehicle Transport for internships. In the near future, assistant Oleksii Osmak will be trained for a week at the Technical Center in Munich.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further cooperation between Lviv Polytechnic National University and Knorr-Bremse in the field of training specialists in road transport.
