On Saturday, according to a tradition to consecrate Easter baskets, forcibly displaced persons living in the buildings of Lviv Polytechnic also could have their Easter baskets consecrated.

Chaplains from the Student Chaplaincy Center of the UGCC Archeparchy of Lviv visited the 21st and 22nd buildings of Lviv Polytechnic, where internally displaced persons have been living since the beginning of the full-scale war. About fifty IDPs volunteered to have their Easter baskets consecrated.

According to Fr. Ihor Khomichak from the Student Chaplaincy Center of the UGCC Archeparchy of Lviv, such joint events form a sense of community and family.

– People were touched that we came to them and talked to them. I wished them not to forget the Ukrainian traditions they see here and, after victory, on their return home to cherish these traditions. I also said that we all should rejoice in spite of everything and share with those who have less, because that is the spirit of the feast and miracle of the Resurrection of the Lord – to be together and thank God for life. Different people live here, some from Donetsk region, some from Kherson region and Zaporizhzhia, and all of them were glad that they were remembered, said Fr. Ihor Khomichak.

Let us remind you that the University held a coordination event with stakeholders who help IDPs living in Polytechnic buildings.
