On January 23, , for the first time a coordination event was held with the participation of such humanitarian organizations as PIN, CORE, DRC, WCK, NRC (UDOC department, ICLA SHELTER), and IOM in the main building of Lviv Polytechnic. The event dealt with the establishment of cooperation with the university administration to improve the living conditions of internally displaced persons in Polytechnic buildings.
The organizer of the event was the Norwegian non-governmental humanitarian organization NORWEGIAN REFUGEE COUNCIL.
– We created this event so that everyone who helps internally displaced people living in the Polytechnic buildings has a clear understanding of who is responsible for what, what problems arise and how to solve them, explained Yaroslav Matiash, representative of the NORWEGIAN REFUGEE COUNCIL.
Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector for Education and Social Development, Lviv Polytechnic, on behalf of the University expressed the gratitude to all the organizations who help with the adjustment of the lives of the displaced persons living in Polytechnic buildings.
– Many thanks and respect to all of you. When Polytechnic started doing this, we had nothing. There was only an empty gym. There were no people, no food, no mattresses. Thank you for showing solidarity and helping to organize everything. This all is thanks to you, we wouldn’t have done it without you. During this time, more than six thousand people passed through Polytechnic and received everything they needed as forced internally displaced persons, said Roman Korzh.
Let us remind you that recently the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine visited the IDP Center at Lviv Polytechnic and talked with internally displaced persons.
