A conference of the staff took place at Lviv Polytechnic

Yurii Bobalo, Rector of the University, reported to the staff about the main results of the University’s work during the year, answered the questions of the participants, and presented awards and honours.

Last year opened a lot of new opportunities for Lviv Polytechnic, as the quarantine measures forced to master a different format of work. Important events took place during this time. The university established new partnerships, started cooperation with foreign universities, companies and institutions, joined new projects and grants, as well as signed important memoranda. Modern laboratories were opened at several Departments. Researchers, teaching staff and students made progress in science, education, sports, and received nominal scholarships. In many rankings, including international ones, the University has improved its position. The Academic Board approved University culture code, student psychologists began to provide free psychological support, the scientific library entered the list of the best 100 libraries in the world, and specialists completed the restoration of the historic halls in the main building.

Rector’s report

During the discussion, the Head of the Department of Finance Ihor Alieksieiev focused on educational activities, innovative approaches in teaching certain disciplines, and student-centered learning. Myroslav Maliovanyi, Head of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Environmental Management, spoke about research and ranking of the Departments. Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations Halyna Lutsyshyn shared her experience of fruitful international cooperation. Zorian Pikh, Head of the Department of Organic Products Technology, focused on the cooperation with Roshen Corporation, and the Director of the Automobile and Road College, Mykhailo Brehin, spoke about the reform of colleges that took place last year. The Chairman of the Students’ Union Anastasiia Vakarchuk focused on the challenges and opportunities of students, and the Head of the Staff Union Roman Kolodii – on solving social problems.

The Rector answered the questions of the conference participants and presented the diplomas of the laureates of the State Prizes of Ukraine in the field of Education to the Head of the Resource Center Oksana Potymko and the Acting Head of the Software Department Dmytro Fedasiuk.

The diploma of the winner of the All-Ukrainian competition «Invention-2020» in the nomination «Construction» was awarded to the Head of the Department of Building Production Myroslav Sanytskyi. Diplomas of the Ministry of Education and Science for fruitful pedagogical activity and significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists were presented to: Head of the Department of Technical Mechanics and Dynamics of Machines Volodymyr Malashchenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Electromechatronics and Computerized Electromechanical Systems Mykhailo Khai.

Certificate of Appreciation of the Ministry of Education and Science were awarded to: Professor of the Department of Measuring Information Technologies Tetiana Bubela, and Acting Head of the Department of Cadastre of Territory Yurii Hubar

The University diplomas were presented to the staff of the first three graduating Departments in the ranking: the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems (ICSIT), the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Environmental Management (ISD), and the Department of Photonics (ITRE), and the non-graduating Department – the Department of Ukrainian Language (IHSS).

According to the results of the annual competition «Best Young Scientist of the Year» the winners are: Yaroslav Blikharskyi (nomination «Architecture and Construction»), Ivan Izonin (nomination «Information Sciences, Telecommunications»), Khrystyna Ivaniuk (nomination «Electronics and Computer Engineering»), Oksana Lytvyniak (nomination «Earth Sciences and Sustainable Development»), Taras Borovets (nomination «Engineering and Automation»), Andrii Kashuba (nomination «Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry»), Mariana Shepida (nomination «Materials Science»), Nataliia Vovk (nomination «Humanities: history, philosophy, law, sociology, social work, political science»), Yurii Dziurakh (nomination «Social sciences: economics and management»), and Solomiia Fedushko (nomination «Humanities: linguistics, culturology, art history and design»).

The conference was held in compliance with all quarantine measures.
