On February 13–16, 2024, the 4th International Scientific Symposium «Sustainable Development – State and Prospects» (SDEV’2024) took place in the Polytechnic-2 Recreational Camp in the town of Slavske. It took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme of the Jean Monnet Module «The concept of ecosystem services: European experience» (EE4CES). The organizer of the event is Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, Lviv Polytechnic National University. The co-organizer is the public organization «Mission of Sustainable Development».
Researchers from different cities of Ukraine, as well as foreign participants from Estonia took part in the work of the Symposium. In total more than 250 participants registered for participation.
The Symposium was solemnly opened by Professor Oleksandr Moroz, the Chairman of the organizing committee, Director of Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, Lviv Polytechnic, who welcomed the participants and wished them successful work. He also emphasized the relevance of the symposium’s topic and its importance for achieving the goals of sustainable development.
Professor Myroslav Maliovanyi chaired the plenary session. The leading Ukrainian and foreign experts on ecology, environmental protection technologies, entrepreneurship, economy, civil security, tourism, hotel and restaurant business presented their reports. Also there were interesting sectional meetings on the symposium’s topics.
In general, the reports of all participants were interesting and diverse and related to climate change, monitoring and management of nature conservation areas, environmental safety of production, wastewater treatment technologies, atmospheric air, soil pollution prevention, as well as environmental expertise of goods, entrepreneurship, tourism and recreation, etc.
The materials of the participants’ reports were published in the materials of the 4th International Scientific Symposium SDEV’2024.
The Winter International School «European experience of strategic planning of territorial development taking into account ecosystem services for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine» was held as part of the 4th International Scientific Symposium. Its participants received certificates of professional development in the amount of 1 ECTS credit, 30 academic hours.
The organizers are grateful to all participants for their interest in the symposium and invite them to the next, no less interesting scientific events planned as part of the project «Concept of Ecosystem Services: European Experience» (ЕЕ4CES).
