The institute implements double-degree programs with the Pomeranian Academy (Akademia Pomorska) in Słupsk (Poland) and the Higher School of Occupational Safety Management (WSZOP) in Katowice (Poland).

In 2019, students of the institute won the Academy’s Cup while studying under an international academic mobility program at the Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk (Poland).

Since 2020, an international elective course, Food Security, has been offered, allowing students to study at Pennsylvania State University (USA).
Representatives of the Institute of Sustainable Development, named after V. Chornovil, participated in the international educational EduBUP project, “Re-thinking of pedagogy for implementing education for sustainable development in the Baltic University Programme countries.” The Baltic University Programme is coordinated by Uppsala University (Sweden), and the project is carried out with financial support from the Swedish Institute.

In 2020, the institute hosted the signing of a cooperation agreement between Lviv Polytechnic National University and Pennsylvania State University in the United States.

October 12, 2021 - ceremonial presentation of certificates to students of the international elective course “Knowledge Management and Decision Support Systems.”
Throughout 2021, Sofiia-Samantha Voitovych, a student of the Department of Environmental Safety and Environmental Protection Activities, served as a student ambassador for the Baltic University Programme. Samantha actively participated in various BUP events and represented Lviv Polytechnic National University with distinction. In 2021, she was the university’s representative at the international event “The BUP Symposium 2021,” which comprised nine different sections.

In 2022, a Memorandum on Leading Partnership was signed to host the [Hybrid] Summer Field School — FSc MER 2023 and the Summer School “Mountain Ecosystems and Resource Management” with The Grassroots Institute (Canada). The programs aim to equip researchers, students, practitioners, and early-career instructors who wish to learn about mountain ecosystems and sustainable development with practical approaches, knowledge, and skills needed to address challenges of the sustainable use of natural resources worldwide. This international educational initiative is carried out in partnership with various academic and practitioner organisations.

Faculty of the institute participated in the Baltic University Programme’s teacher course, “Education for Sustainable Development in Higher Education.” Overall, the BUP course for university educators aims to integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals into teaching, courses, and curricula. The instructors place particular emphasis on e-learning methodologies.
