On November 7, 2024, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted the International Symposium «Sustainable Economic Development and Digitalisation: Implementation of European Practices in the Ukrainian Educational Model». The event was initiated by the Department of Business Economics and Investments, the Institute of Economics and Management. The event is related to the Jean Monnet grant program, which supports the dissemination of European experience in the field of education with a focus on digitalisation and sustainable development.
The Symposium was opened by Orest Koleshchuk, the Head of the Department, who expressed his gratitude to all the participants and co-organisers, as well as to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose dedication and courage in the war make it possible for us to implement scientific and educational projects.
Professor Mykhailo Honchar, the Director of the Institute of Economics and Management, Professor Oleh Kuzmin, Chairman of the Academic Board at the Institute of Economics and Management, Professor Serhii Arefiev, Wiesbaden Business School, and Rhine-Main University of Applied Sciences, and Professor Viktoria Prokhorova, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, delivered welcome speeches.
The Symposium outlined the main needs for the development of Ukrainian education in the context of digitalisation and sustainable development, including the integration of digital technologies into educational processes, the development of partnerships with businesses, and the adaptation of European practices and models. They discussed the importance of creation and successful operation of innovative platforms, such as Tech StartUp School, to support student start-ups and to stimulate youth initiatives and projects.
The Symposium became an important step in the introduction of digital technologies into the Ukrainian education system, which meets European standards and contributes to the country’s sustainable economic development.
