At the invitation of Iryna Matiash, Chairman of the Scientific Society of History of Diplomacy and International Relations, employees of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, joined the Diplomatic and Scientific Marathon «Lesia Unites the World» and presented the Institute project «Lesia – Ukrainian. And We – Ukrainians» and their own publications dedicated to Lesia Ukrainka.

The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, 15 Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to countries around the world, representatives of diaspora organizations and leading Ukrainian societies abroad took part in the event.

Invitation to participate in such a representative event shows a high appreciation of the Institute’s activities and recognition of its work.

A decade ago, we could not imagine such close cooperation between diplomatic missions and Ukrainian communities: every decision of the international congresses «Diaspora as a factor in establishing the state of Ukraine in the international community», organized by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, included a paragraph on the appeal to Ukrainian embassies abroad to participate in diaspora events. And today the format of the conversation in the Marathon is a symbol of the binom state-diaspora and their inseparable unity. However, we all have a lot of work to do, as, in the conditions of our statelessness, Ukraine was not ready to integrate the new knowledge created by the diaspora.

In order to make the resource capacity of our nation and the diaspora be invested in the cultural integration of the European space, we need, first of all, to comprehend these resources.

The event demonstrated that Lesia Ukrainka is returning to Ukraine, which means that there is hope that the world will soon talk about her.
