On November 14 Sylvain Rigollet, Attaché for University and Scientific Cooperation, Embassy of France in Ukraine, and Nicolas Facino, Director of Alliance française de Lviv, paid a visit to Lviv Polytechnic.

Last year Polytechnic became a member of the Francophonie University Association that, besides providing opportunities, imposes certain obligations. The visit of the delegation aimed to establish cooperation between Lviv University, France and the French-speaking environment.

Oleh Matviikiv, Vice Rector, Nataliia Hotz, Director of the Center for International Education, and Olena Fedorova, newly appointed person responsible for educational cooperation with French universities, and members of the already mentioned Association took part in the event. At the beginning of the meeting the directions of the future work of Ms. Fedorova were discussed.

Next issue was the cooperation of Polytechnic with French and Francophonie enterprises. At the beginning of 2019 a meeting of the university leadership with representatives of the companies operating in Lviv region is planned to discuss the student and teacher internships at Lviv and foreign enterprises. By the way, currently there are eight French companies operating in Lviv, which are interested in Polytechnic graduates of almost all specialities.

The third issue concerned scholarship programs of the French Government, which Alliance Française would soon present in Polytechnic, so that bachelor, master and postgraduate students of the university could apply.

Since in September the Year of the French Language starts in Ukraine, there was also a discussion how to intensify learning this second international language in Polytechnic. Mr Facino offered to send a French-speaking trainee to the university.

Erasmus was also not forgotten. The Attaché supports such agreements between Polytechnic and universities of France, and therefore he assured that he would recommend French universities to sign them.

Participation in Erasmus also requires language proficiency, so we will cooperate with those Lviv schools that give in-depth knowledge of the French language... The implementation of this step is planned for December 2018. In this way, we attract those students to the university whose specialities are in demand of the French companies, said Nataliia Hots.
