On May 5, 2023, the final of the pilot educational project «Supporting the development of youth entrepreneurship among IDPs» was held in Lviv. It was implemented on the basis of Tech StartUp School, Lviv Polytechnic National University, within the framework of grant cooperation with the USAID HOVERLA and with the support of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
The project was launched in 10 communities of the Lviv region in December 2022. More than 1,200 schoolchildren and students from Lviv region applied to participate in the program, 530 of them successfully completed their studies. Each participant was trained in two courses: a mandatory course «Creative thinking» and one of five modules to choose from: «Basics of IT», «Biotechnologies», «Robotics», «Controlling drones», and «3D modeling».
Based on the results of the training, the project participants submitted 116 ideas for consideration by the mentors, 36 of which were selected to be presented to investors. During DemoDay, these 36 teams of inventors demonstrated their startups in front of investors and representatives of local authorities. Among them there are 17 project prototypes and 19 business ideas.
Although the project was implemented in selected communities of the region, schoolchildren from other communities, including Lviv residents, could also join it.
During DemoDay, the project winners were awarded certificates of honor and cash prizes from the Lviv Regional Military Administration in the amount of 20,000, 15,000 and 12,000 hryvnias. At the same time, each participant in the final is already a winner, as he receives funding for the implementation of his own project.
Also, all finalist teams received incentive prizes in the amount of 5,400 hryvnias.
