In 2025, Lviv Polytechnic received an important technological donation from the Center for Vocational Training in Construction and Crafts of the Canton of Lucerne (Swiss Confederation) – a batch of modern ultrabooks designed to significantly enhance the University’s digital capabilities for both students and faculty. This initiative has become another milestone in the long-term cooperation between Swiss and Ukrainian higher education institutions, which continues to expand in response to Ukraine’s growing need for educational modernization, innovative solutions, and the implementation of new standards in technical training.

The transfer of technical equipment from Lucerne partners has not only practical, but symbolic significance. The ultrabooks provided by the Swiss center allow for expanded access to modern software products, professional CAD systems, engineering simulators and tools for distance learning. At a time when the digitalization of education has become a necessity, such assistance is especially valuable. After all, it is not only about material resources, but also about an investment in the future of Ukrainian engineers, architects, technologists and specialists in related fields.

This time, with the assistance of the Director of the Institute of Economics and Management, Mykhailo Honchar and his deputy Yurii Malynovskyi, seven ultrabooks were transferred to the Institute of Architecture and Design, and one – to the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems. One ultrabook went to the Polytechnic-4 Recreational Camp, another one was transferred to the Institute of Economics and Management and two ultrabooks were transferred to Oleh Karyi, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and his Department.

This support opens up many new opportunities for Lviv Polytechnic. First of all, it allows increasing the level of technical equipment of classrooms, laboratories and resource centers. Students will have the opportunity to work with new equipment during laboratory classes, course and diploma projects, as well as in the process of research activities. Ultrabooks are distinguished by high performance, long battery life and mobility, which makes them indispensable in field work, architectural surveys, construction expertise or engineering assessments, which are often part of educational programs.

Thus, the initiative of the Center for Vocational Training of Construction and Crafts of the Canton of Lucerne is an example of effective international cooperation that brings real results and contributes to the development of the Ukrainian educational community. It demonstrates that supporting innovative technical education is a common priority for European institutions and an important contribution to the future of Ukrainian youth.
