The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of Journalism Education and Practice: Ukrainian and World Experience" was held at the department of Journalism.
The international scientific and practical conference "Problems of Journalism Education and Practice: Ukrainian and World Experience" is an event that brought together representatives of the academic and practical journalistic environment to discuss current issues of journalism development. It was organized as part of the implementation of grant #22310314 "Journalism education in the V4 countries and Ukraine: strengthening of cooperation", supported by the Visegrad Fund.
The conference took place over two days - September 27 and 28, 2023 and became a place for professional and student dialogue and exchange of experience. The head of the program committee was the director of the Institute of Law and Psychology of the Lviv Polytechnic National University, professor, doctor of legal sciences, Volodymyr Lvovich Ortynskyi.
The head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, candidate of Sciences in Social Communications, Associate Professor Zoryana Volodymyrivna Galadzhun provided a welcome speech. Next, foreign and Ukrainian scientists presented their works. In total, more than 30 participants took part in the event, among them scientists from Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, as well as various regions of Ukraine.
During the conference, a wide range of issues related to journalism education and practice were discussed. Speakers presented the results of their research on modern trends in journalism, the role of the media in shaping public opinion, ethical aspects of journalistic activity, the case of medical and military journalists, and other relevant topics.
Attention was also paid to the comparative analysis of Ukrainian and world experience in training future journalists. The participants of the conference expressed various views and recommendations regarding the improvement of journalism education programs, as well as the development of practical skills of students and modern journalists.
Innovations in journalism education, in particular the use of modern technologies and interactive teaching methods, became a separate topic. The participants shared their own experiences and ideas about how the latest technologies affected their lives and the existence of various types of mass media. The topic of journalism in the occupied territories, the importance of media literacy in Ukrainian society, the use of artificial intelligence in the work of a journalist, etc. were also discussed.
The conference ended with professional discussions, during which were formulated the main conclusions and recommendations, which will be an important contribution to the development of journalism education and practice.
Thanks to the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of Journalism Education and Practice", the participants had the opportunity to discuss key aspects of the development of journalism, exchange experience and find common ways to solve important tasks in this field. The results of this conference will be published as a collection of proceedings, and everyone will be able to get acquainted with them.
