Heads of the department by years

Each of the departments that formed PAGC department has its own ancient history.

Department of Physical Chemistry was founded in 1929. Its head from the moment of its foundation until 1932 was Bohdan Kamenskyy (1897-1973), a researcher of electrochemistry and physical chemistry of surface phenomena. During 1932-1934 and 1941-1944, the department was headed by Professor, Doctor of Philosophy Viktor Yakub. From 1934 to 1939, the department was headed by Professor Alitsiya Dorabyalʹsʹka, the first female professor at the Lviv Polytechnic. In the postwar years, the department was headed by Associate Professor Yevhen Vlasenko (1946–1958), Professor Tymofiy Yurzhenko (1958–1964), Associate Professor Anatoliy Polishchuk (1964–1968), Professor Chuchmarov (1968–1989). From December 2014 until the unification, the duties of the head of the department were performed by DSc(Chem.), Professor Valentyn Serheyev. 

Department of Аnalytical Chemistry. The study of analytical chemistry began at the chemical and technological faculty in the year of its creation - in 1872. The department was created in 1939, and the first head was Professor Anatolii Zanko. Intensive development of the department began in August 1944 under the leadership of Associate Professor A. Chorny, who temporarily performed the duties of the head of the department. From 1945 to 1948, the department was headed by Professor A. Zanko. In subsequent periods, the department was headed by associate professors O. Zanko (1948-1951, 1956-1968) and L. Pantelyeyeva (1951-1956). From 1968 to 1978, the department was headed by Professor Kyrylo Mikhalevich. From 1978 to 1983, the department was headed by Prof. Vasyl Shevchuk. From 1983 until unification, the department was headed by Doctor of Science, Professor Yosyp Yatchyshyn.

Department of General Chemistry was established simultaneously with the formation of the Technical Academy on November 4, 1844, as the Department of General and Technical Chemistry, which provided chemical training for all students of the Technical Academy. The organizer and first head of the department was doctor of medicine Fryderik Rokhleder, professor of chemistry. Then the department was headed by: prof. Hustav Volf (1850-1872), prof. Avhust Froynd (1872-1892), prof. Stefan Nementorskyy (1892-1919) prof. Edvard Sukharda (1919-1926), prof. Vitold Yakub (1926-1939), associate professor Donat Lyenhauer (1940-1941), associate professor Borys Nyeklyeyevych (1944-1945), Honored Worker of Science and Technology, prof. Yakiv Berkman (1945-1967), prof. Regina Vizhert (1967-1973), prof. Borys Chernyak (1973-1995), prof. Mykhaylo Nykypanchuk (1995-2004). From April 2004 until the unification, the department was headed by DSc(Tech.), Professor Volodymyr Starchevskyy.
