The Department of Urban Planning and Design is a structural unit of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. It was established in 1913 in response to the societal demand of that time for training qualified specialists in the field of urban planning. Over more than a century, the department has successfully educated and prepared competitive professionals who have excelled as managers, specialists, researchers, artists, and advocates of architectural and urban planning heritage.
Thanks to the productive and skilled leadership, the department has built a solid foundation for fostering creative professional thinking and the competence-based professional development of academic staff in various fields, including teaching, professional training, internships, project design, research, organizing creative meetings, participating in national and international competitions, and collaborating with practitioners.
The strategy of the Department of Urban Planning aims to maintain its leadership position and adapt to the complex challenges and demands of the present day.
MISSION: Scientific research in the field of architecture and urban planning, and the training of a new generation of competent professionals capable of creatively responding to contemporary challenges and effectively addressing complex tasks in their professional activities.
