On July 14, 2021, Oksana Piatkovska, Deputy Director of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, took part in a meeting of the working group on the study of migration from Central and Eastern Europe to South Africa. The research was initiated by the participants of the International Conference on Socio-Economic Connections between Eastern Europeans in South Africa (June 10, 2021).

The results of the conference demonstrated the relevance of this issue and considerable interest in further research, as well as the need for international multidisciplinary research networks to deepen the study of migration from CEE to South Africa and the formation of diaspora organizations in South Africa.

During the meeting, researchers from Ukraine, South Africa, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria shared their studies, found points of intersection of scientific interests, discussed topics for joint future research and publications, as well as opportunities for grant funding for future projects.

The participants agreed to regularly hold such meetings, adopted an action plan and an agenda for the next meeting.

IECDR would like to express its gratitude to Dzvinka Kachur, President of the Ukrainian Association in South Africa, for organizing, conducting and moderating this event.
