For several days, in various social networks there have been talks about the fact that Lviv Polytechnic has already made a decision regarding a certain format of the educational process in the new academic year. Rector Yurii Bobalo explained what students and academics should expect.

– We are in difficult conditions – there is a war in Ukraine. No one can know what will happen in a few days, a week or a month. That’s why we are thinking about various formats of study process. Most likely, we will have to combine different approaches. We are working out statistical data to understand how many students need classroom training because they need special equipment, and how many can study remotely or in a mixed format, emphasized Yurii Bobalo.

In today’s conversation with the rector, the Minister of Education and Science emphasized that it is necessary to learn to work in the conditions of war, which are completely different from those that we had known before.

― The most important thing we have to achieve: the participation of our employees and students in the fight against the enemy, ― in different ways and by different methods. We are also obliged to take care of the safety of every Polytechnic student. And, of course, to ensure the high quality of education, – added the rector. ― Faculty and students should know how to act in a dangerous situation. Taking into account the recent events in Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv and Odesa, we see that it is impossible to predict where enemy rockets will aim, so academics must clearly understand how to act during an air raid, and know where to lead students, where the shelter is provided for this or that group. Now the University has created a commission that will work out the relevant rules and requirements so that the educational process is as safe as possible and does not pose a threat to both students and academics.

Lviv Polytechnic also cares about those students who will not be able to return from abroad due to valid reasons. They will be provided with the opportunity to study according to an individual schedule or remotely.

The University provides an individual approach to students who are fighting the enemy in hot spots. Yurii Bobalo emphasized that every student who takes a direct part in the war with Russia will be able to finish his studies and receive higher education.

― Today I strongly advise: do not panic, do not make premature conclusions, because the enemy fights not only with missiles, but with fakes as well. We will inform you about the decision. We are currently consulting with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of our students and academics in various situations, and we are also discussing these issues with the trade unions of employees and students. I am sure that the decisions made will take into account the interests of everyone, emphasized Yurii Bobalo.
