One hundred participants from more than fifty different educational institutions of Ukraine took part in the Youth Model of the European Parliament, which took place this year at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Oleh Matviikiv, First Vice-Rector of Lviv Polytechnic welcomed the participants and emphasized that they are the future leaders of Ukraine.
– You are the ones who will develop and modernize our state. Of course, I am glad that Lviv Polytechnic is initiating such processes. We must develop Ukraine according to European principles. Europe is waiting for another Ukraine, not the same as before the full-scale war, so we must be better and rebuild ourselves and our country, said Oleh Matviikiv in his welcome speech.
According to the organizers of the event, Bohdan Mirinchyk, Head of the Project Department of the Lviv Polytechnic Students’ Board, said that this Youth Model is held in order to help young people understand how European institutions work.
– We are actively moving towards the EU, and the future belongs to the youth who will lead Ukraine along this path. We have united with our partners and decided to make such an event, said Bohdan Mirinchyk.
First, participants took part in several online sessions about EU-Ukraine relations, the work of EU institutions and the opportunities it provides. And on May 19, there was a simulation of key meetings of the European Parliament which took place in the Assembly Hall of the main building of Polytechnic. Participants had the opportunity to actively participate in discussions, develop their positions and work on their ideas in teams. They were also able to communicate online with EU ambassadors.
