A webinar on the culture of academic integrity was held at Lviv Polytechnic

On March 15, at the initiative of the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Scientific Society of Students, Doctoral Candidates and Young Researchers, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, a webinar on «Forming a Culture of Academic Integrity in Students and Faculty» was held at Lviv Polytechnic National University».

The guest speaker was Yana Chapailo coordinator of the project «Initiative of Academic Integrity and Quality of Education – Academic IQ». She made a presentation «Academic Integrity as part of the quality assurance system in higher education». Mz. Chapailo spoke in detail about the Academic Integrity and Quality Initiative – Academic IQ project, which brings together the professional community of secondary and higher education educators to share experiences and work together to support academic integrity and quality of education. The project is implemented by the American Councils for International Education with the assistance of the US Embassy in Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. Ukrainian and international experts cooperate within the project in order to develop the educational environment to introduce the norms of academic integrity and strengthen the capacity of the educational system of Ukraine.

More than 70 people – students majoring in International Relations, academic staff and postgraduate students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, as well as representatives of other universities, including Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, took part in the event.

Students actively discussed and expressed their views on the formation of academic culture at the university, the fight against plagiarism, and improving the university system of academic integrity. Interesting were the speeches of students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations Diana Perehiniak and Yuliana Trifonova, who expressed their views on enhancing academic integrity policy by students, ensuring an objective assessment of learning outcomes. Participants also stressed the importance of strengthening confidence in the quality of education and research, which is facilitated by the academic integrity of students and faculty.
