Vice-Rector of Lviv Polytechnic Oleh Matviikiv met the American delegation to negotiate on double diploma programme.
On Friday, May 17, there was a meeting with Marshal Botkin, the initiator of the cooperation project, Professor of Sociology at Frederick Community College (Maryland) and Dr. Hatem Akl, Vice President of e-Learning and Learning Enterprises at Ocean County College (New Jersey), to discuss this issue.
The purpose of the delegation’s current visit is to launch a joint double diploma programme with Ocean County College, which is a partner for two American universities – Kean University and New Jersey Institute of Technology and where are trained associate students (an analogue of a junior bachelor) from more than 60 specialties in technical, humanitarian, economical, computer and other fields.
– We plan to start the fully English-language double diploma programme with the American college in the field of Business Administration ... At this stage, it has been agreed that more than 1/3 of disciplines must have similar programs of study and they can be taught by Lviv Polytechnic academics. The other part of the disciplines will be conducted by American academics either online or they could come to teach to our University for one term, said Oleh Matviikiv.
The next stage, according to the Vice-Rector, will be the determination of discipline list, modification of the study programs’ content, the employment of staff members who will be able to teach subjects in English and signing an agreement. It is known that in America there is college tuition, so the important issue of further negotiations will be the determination and establishment of a tuition that could be paid by Ukrainian students. In addition, the Polytechnic leadership suggests that the programme will be interesting for foreign students as well, so the current task of the University is to organize an advertising campaign and inform all potential students about the possibility of English language study and obtaining an American diploma in Lviv Polytechnic.
