In the Grand Session Hall of the Lviv Regional Council there was held the celebration of the Day of Sustainable Development. There was also an award ceremony of those Polytechnic students who won the essay contest «Cities and Sustainable Development».
Lviv Polytechnic is a partner of UNDP in Ukraine and our students take an active part in lots of its programs. One of them is an essay contest. This time, students from the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems joined the program. They analyzed the problems of a modern city and expressed their own vision of the solutions.
Thus, the leaders of this year’s contest are: Vladyslav Tarakhtii (nomination «Topicality of the thoughts and purposefulness of ideas»), Kateryna Perepelytsia (nomination «Consistency and logic in the argumentation of expressing the point of view»), Markiian Tarakanov (nomination «Practicality of conclusions and proposals»), Anna Lukasevych (nomination «Sincerity and awareness of personal responsibility to society») and Yuliia Zakharevych (nomination «The originality of the author’s view and creativity»).
More than 10 years ago Lviv region began cooperating with UNDP «Community-Based Sustainable Development». It is based on 17 goals, including no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, etc. Achieving these goals we help to make our life better not only for now, but for the future as well. It has already been possible to implement about two thousand projects.
