Recently Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted a roundtable meeting dedicated to the establishment of the Veterans Service for military officers and their families. Similar civic groups have become widespread in the United States. They carry out active volunteer work with veterans, providing them with the necessary assistance and supporting them in every possible way.
The participants of the meeting were warmly welcomed by Roman Korzh, the Vice-Rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the University, who expressed hope that the newly formed organization would be a good support to war veterans and their family members in the everyday life.
Prof. Marshall A. Botkin (Maryland, USA), Professor of Sociology at Frederick Community College, addressed the audience. At the roundtable meeting, Rachel Nachlas, the Director of the Veterans Service of this College, delivered a speech on the experience of work of such civic groups in the United States.
Nina Haiduk, Associate Professor and the Director of the International Integration Center for Professional Partnerships, spoke about the conceptual preconditions for the establishment of such a service in Lviv Polytechnic.
