On 30 November, the finals of the 11th All-Ukrainian Student Architecture Competition Steel Freedom 2024, which brought together the best projects of future architects from all over Ukraine, ended. This year, 109 teams (407 students) from 15 higher education institutions of the country registered to participate. After the technical selection, 66 works made it to the semi-finals, including representatives of the Institute of Architecture and Design, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
According to the results of the competition, the team of the Department of Architectural Constructions, the Institute of Architecture and Design, Lviv Polytechnic, consisting of the following members: Tereza Karlyk, Hordii Sviatyi, Serhii Dilai, Denys Skrypets and Sofiia Hamela (curated by Volodymyr Babiak), won the first place. The winning project was also awarded in the nominations from AVR, AVG, ArchObraz, AIMM, abmk, INBO, as well as it received the first place from MVRDV.
The third place in the competition was also taken by representatives of the Department of Architectural Constructions – the team that had already won prizes at this competition: Dmytro Mazur, Sofiia Leibych, Yaroslav Ivaskiv and Sofia Kiyko (curated by Leonid Vozniuk).
Lviv Polytechnicians also won the prizes in the nomination from the Dutch bureau MVRDV:
- students of the Department of Architectural Constructions: Mykhailo Rosliakov, Andriana Boichuk, Solomiia-Hanna Syd, Marko Beliukh and Marian Havrykh (curated by Leonid Vozniuk);
- representatives of the Department of Architectural Environment Design: Kateryna Yalovets, Vladyslav Lysenko and Anna Kozak (curated by Roman Kubai).
The Audience award from the competition organiser, the Ukrainian Steel Construction Centre, went to the team from the Department of Urban Planning and Design: Liudmyla Boliubash, Kateryna Palianytsia, Mariia Petrushka, Viktoriia Remeniak and Oleksandra Popyk (curated by Liudmyla Hnes).
Thus, the architecture school of Lviv Polytechnic once again demonstrates its high competitive and high-quality level of work with students and the formation of basic professional knowledge and skills for further development in the field of architecture!
Every year the cooperation between students, architects and designers is getting better, and the new creative teams emerge that will create the architecture of Ukraine – the country that would win the war and would be reviving!
