A student of the AED Department wins the building design competitions for the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy

Students and faculty of the Department of Architectural Environment Design, the Institute of Architecture and Design, Lviv Polytechnic National University, took part in the celebrations on the occasion of Act Day (awarding of diplomas) at the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy in Lutsk.

During the projects presentation, Archpriest Volodymyr (Vakin), rector of the Theological Academy, first took the floor, speaking about the stages of idea formation of creating new academic buildings.

The competition for the best architecture sketch proposal for the buildings of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy began before the full-scale war. It was initiated by the Volyn Brotherhood of St. Volodymyr the Great, the Volyn Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Department of Architectural Environment Design, the Institute of Architecture and Design, Lviv Polytechnic National University, the Ivan Levynskyi Museum Charitable Foundation, and the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture.

Among the nine projects submitted to the competition, which were performed by students of the Department of Architectural Environment Design under the leadership of Professor Viktor Proskuriakov and academics Yuliia Bohdanova and Ihor Kopyliak, the jury singled out seven works.

The best project was unanimously recognized as the one by Nataliia Khyzniuk a student, who became the winner of the competition and received an award – a diploma and a prize. The projects of students Yurii Cholavyn, Uliana Hrechka, Kateryna Kosheliak, Bozhena Volianska, Vasylyna Ohorilko, Kateryna Ivashchuk and Alina Kushnir were presented the laureate awards and prizes.

Metropolitan Mykhail presented the prize diplomas to the winners and laureates of the student architectural competition. The prize fund was provided by Archpriest Volodymyr (Vakin), rector of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy, and Serhii Ivanov-Kostetskyi, head of the Ivan Levynskyi Museum Charitable Foundation.
