In April-May 2024, a series of media literacy events ‘The Truth about the EU’ took place as part of the European Studies for Technical Specialities (EUSTS) project at Lviv Polytechnic National University with the support of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Programme. The goal is to build a sustainable media-literate society capable of detecting false information, in particular on the topic of Ukraine's European integration.
During the event, the participants got acquainted with the main forms of spreading disinformation, learned about the main mechanisms for countering false information, and analysed current examples of fake news aimed at discrediting the European Union and Ukraine's European integration progress. Of particular interest was the topic of possible tools and sources of refuting false information. The participants of the training also tried to practically ‘dispel’ one of the fakes related to Ukraine's integration into the EU.
In total, the event was attended by more than 100 participants – students of the Management and Cyber Security study programmes at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
More information about EUSTS can be found on the project's website within the Lviv Polytechnic Portal.
