The Interuniversity Round Table «Creation and Destruction» was held online on November 19, 2022. It was organized by the Public Organization «Institute of Philosophy, Logic and Sociology» and the Department of Philosophy, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

  • Ihor Karivets, head of the Department of Philosophy, Lviv Polytechnic, gave a speech «Life and Death: Transformation in Wartime». Historians believe that the war accelerates changes, reforms, it is a kind of engine of progress. On the other hand, war is destruction and death. Thus, there is a paradox of war. And a person must accept this paradox.
  • Volodymyr Vozniak, Professor at the V. Skotny Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Political Science, Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, reflected on «The Ontological Foundations of Evil and Destruction». A person destroys because he has a feeling of envy. Envy prompts a person to act destructively, that is why there is evil in this feeling.
  • Oksana Panafidina, Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, in her report «Metaphysics against Destruction: Constructivist Version of the Process Philosophy» focused on the philosophy of the process, which is based on the premise that being is dynamic and that the dynamic nature of being should be the primary focus of any comprehensive philosophical account of reality and our place within it. Reality consists of people’s actions, so it is changeable. Actions are destructive and constructive. Therefore, the main thing is to find a dynamic balance between them in order to avoid total destruction.
