In 2024, Lviv Polytechnic was nominated for the annual DOU Award in the category “Best Non-Profit Initiative Supporting the Development of the IT Sector.” Our university is represented by the international educational project Open Educational Resources with Ukraine, which is carried out by the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies in cooperation with universities from Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro. The project aims to support Ukrainian higher education institutions and ensure the continuity of education for students affected by the war (read more in Lviv Polytechnic participates in the international educational project OER with Ukraine Informatics and Lviv Polytechnic takes active part in the international project “Open Educational Resources with Ukraine”).
Open Educational Resources with Ukraine involves the creation and dissemination of virtual courses, enabling students to continue their studies despite the restrictions caused by the war. Free access to the materials is provided by the portal of the German National Library of Science and Technology at Leibniz University Hannover (Hannover, Germany). In 2024, the project produced 116 video lectures in 16 series, with a total duration of over 39 hours. These video lectures have already been viewed 5,567 times. Since the project’s inception, the video materials have garnered over 20,000 views in total.
The nomination for the DOU Award recognizes the contribution of the Open Educational Resources with Ukraine project to supporting Ukrainian education and developing the IT sector during wartime conditions.
Voting for the best IT initiatives submitted for the DOU Award is open until February 27.
