Professor Yaroslav Vyliuk, the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems, ICSIT, Lviv Polytechnic, together with his students, creates lectures and laboratory classes for world-class platforms – the American electronic corporation IBM, the technology company Coursera, which works in the field of education, and for the Internet platform of massive open interactive courses EdX, which was founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
– Our cooperation with the American-Canadian company INTELA (Integrated Technologies Laboratory) began two years ago. This company has many different projects, including educational ones. In addition, it cooperates with IBM, Coursera and EdX. We were offered to join their developments in the field of artificial intelligence application in various subject areas. The main idea was to show how these technologies can be applied in different subject areas where such innovations have not been implemented yet or are already being used in order to teach and demonstrate how it works from the inside. During the year, I developed educational projects, including more than 60 laboratory works on Python. They function on the IBM Skills Network website and are available now for learning. The website also states that the developer is Lviv Polytechnic Professor, and that the educational product is recommended by the IBM Corporation, said Yaroslav Vyliuk.
Before publication, the courses undergo a detailed and lengthy review by IBM specialists. You can already find 20 out of 65 projects. The rest are still at the stage of verification. The relevance of such projects is confirmed by a high attendance rating. In particular, for six months on average there are one and a half thousand applicants from all over the world for one project. That is, their rating is quite high.
– For the Coursera educational platform, where, by the way, there is not even one educational course from Ukrainian institutions of higher education, a year ago I developed a course that passed all reviews and is now in the final stage and will be published on the Coursera platform in the near future. I hope that our course will be the first from Ukraine. Also, at the request of IBM, we developed three courses with three teams of students on the application of data analysis in such subject areas as medicine, finance and trade. These courses must complement the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate course, which has a fairly high rating and has already been completed by more than 180,000 students. In addition, IBM commissioned us to create two more courses (Data Visualization with Python and Machine Learning with Python) for the specified subject areas, added the researcher.
