Participation in the international festival – competition «The City of Lion 2019», which took place on March 22–24 in the Lviv State Palace of Aesthetic Education for Pupils, was more than successful for Suziria Pop Song Ensemble. It was the first time the band took part in such a prestigious competition and ... won.
There were 152 participants in the qualifying round. The winners were determined in the following nominations: vocal, choreographic and original art, which were divided into genres. Suziria Ensemble performed in the genre of pop vocal, in the fourth age category (18–22 years). The band of Lviv Polytechnic was ending the competition program, presenting two songs – Syrota (Orphan) to poems by Taras Shevchenko and Oberih, to poems and music by Ihor Drizhchany. Polytechnicians received the highest points from the juries, which took into account vocal and artistic skills, behavior on the stage, participants’ costumes, etc.
The next day Suziria with their song Oberih played at a gala concert. 20 participants presented their multi-genre performances at the concert, which was broadcasted on YouTube. After the concert program the juries announced the names of the winners and presented them with awards. Suziria Ensemble received a grand prix in its genre, a lion statuette and several certificates, including one thousand euro certificate for a trip to the children’s camp «Together» in Kiten, Bulgaria.
