Vitalii Stadnik and Martyn Sozanskyi, researchers at the Department of Physical, Analytical and General Chemistry, Lviv Polytechnic National University, are executing NATO project G4687 «New Phytotechnology for Cleaning Contaminated Military Sites». Recently they took part in an online seminar «Best available practice for miscanthus utilization to be used in the paper industry» within the CORNET MiscanValue project. The seminar was organized by Cluster WASTen (Czech Republic) in collaboration with Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (Czech Republic), TU Dresden (Germany) and the Institute of Botany (Czech Republic).

Participants discussed many years of research on the positive and negative factors of growing giant miscanthus on different types of soils in different climatic conditions and the industrial possibilities of using biomass to make paper products.

Preliminary cooperation agreements have been reached, namely: use of the laboratory at the Department of Physical, Analytical and General Chemistry, Lviv Polytechnic, for the analysis of soils and biomass samples for pollutants and providing other participants with biomass samples grown at research sites of the Department in Dolyna, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
