The AcademicInfluence website has produced Influential schools, a ranking of the Most Influential Universities in the World Today, part of which is a separate ranking of the Most Influential Universities in Ukraine.
The ranking is compiled by a group of scientists and data specialists who have been publishing the results of their work on the website for more than 5 years. The ranking is based on an algorithm that connects noteworthy people with specific higher education institutions, departments and disciplinary programs.
From the point of view of the ranking developers, any university is influential not by itself, but due to people who studied or worked there. Thus, a university with many influential students or professors is itself considered influential.
In 2020, 183 educational institutions from Ukraine were included in the world ranking. The most influential universities in Ukraine, according to AcademicInfluence, are the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (886th place in the world), Ivan Franko Lviv National University (915th place in the world) and Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (1390th place in the world).
