At the end of July, the student futsal team of Ukraine took second place at the world championship. The team includes two Polytechnic graduates: Ihor Martsyniak and Nazar Voitovych. The boys have been in professional sports for more than one year, so daily training was combined with studying. They told us about the preparation for the championship, the nearest sporting goals and advice on how to achieve success.

Ihor Martsyniak, a graduate of Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, started playing sports as a child. At first, he just played football with his friends, later, at the age of 10, he started playing for the school team, and already at the age of 20 he decided to switch from football to futsal. He says that, in general, he likes sport very much, it gives him special pleasure, and futsal is fascinating because it requires constant concentration and dexterity in the game.

The preparation for the championship was intense, the training lasted for about a month. First, the players went to Zakarpattia region, where training were held, and from there they went to Portugal for the championship.

«In the Zakarpattia region, excellent conditions were created for us so that we could prepare well for the World Championship. Then we went to Portugal, where we played six games in ten days. Championship matches were held in two cities – Braga and Guimarães. Of course, we were going there to win, we really wanted it, but we were a little unlucky. However, we won the prize, and this motivates us to work even harder, so that one day we can return home with gold».

Nazar Voitovych, a graduate of the Institute of Economics and Management and a player of the national team, got involved in sports as a child. He says that playing sports helps him to kip fit, and also gives many acquaintances with interesting people.

The boy notes that the team prepared hard for the game, because they wanted to take the highest place. He also calls perseverance and self-improvement the main secret of success.

We congratulate the Ukrainian team on their excellent result and wish them more victories! We believe that our students and graduates will win many more prestigious medals, and the blue-yellow flag will fly more than once in large sports arenas.
