For many years, Lviv Polytechnic National University attracts talented young people to participate in Olympiads. All-Ukrainian and international competitions make it possible to determine the level of students’ knowledge necessary for their future profession. Oleh Davydchak, Vice-Rector for Graduate Education, told us more about organizing Olympiads, achievements of Polytechnicians and new opportunities for the University development.
– What international student Olympiads are held at Polytechnic?
– Traditionally, Lviv Polytechnic organizes programming competitions and Olympiads. This year we became the winners of the international Creative Spark Big Idea Challange 2021, which is held within a joint project of British Council Ukraine, Kingston University and Tech StartUpSchool. Mykhailo Mamchur, the first year student at the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems, ICSIT, participated in the Brazil International Fair of Inventions, as well as the Croatian-Malaysian International Expo on Innovation, where he gained silver in the category «Information and Communication Technologies». This year, there was also the International Student Professional Creative Competition in Accounting, Taxation, Analysis and Audit. In this competition, students of the Department of Accounting and Analysis gained one first degree diploma and one third degree diploma. Polytechnic is also a basic institution for organizing annual All-Ukrainian Student Olympiads. However, due to the quarantine measures, the competition has been suspended.
– What do you need to become a member of the International Olympiad?
– Usually, Lviv Polytechnic holds team competitions. Also students can individually participate in competitions. Participants must organize a team and choose a coach. Student preparation is carried out in accordance with the terms of the competition.
– What are the advantages for students who participate in Olympiads?
– First of all, it is to get a good experience in teamwork, evaluate the level of training and knowledge. Also, according to the decision of the Organizing Committee of Competitions, Lviv Polytechnic stimulates students with premiums and diplomas.
