As part of the EUSTS project, an online lecture was held on the peculiarities of the digital transformation of Ukraine

On November 15, 2022, a public lecture on the topic «Peculiarities of digital transformation of Ukraine on the way to the EU Digital Single Market» by Larysa Fedina – a chief specialist of the Department of Projects Implementation in the Field of Digitalization of Education, Management of Digital Skills Development and Digitalization of Education, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine – was held online.

In her speech, the speaker focused on revealing the content of the strategic goal of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine – building the most convenient state in the world for users to receive high-quality administrative services. The participants of the event got acquainted with the key goals of digitization of Ukraine, such as:

  • connecting to the Internet and improving the digital infrastructure;
  • improvement of electronic services;
  • promoting the development of IT business;
  • intensification of work on the formation of digital skills, etc.

The lecturer focused special attention on the mobile application «Diya» – the modern tool for Ukrainian citizens to access digital documents. There were also revealed the peculiarities of the five main projects of Diya, in particular:

  1. Mobile application of the Unified state web portal of electronic services («Diya»)
  2. The Unified state web portal of electronic services («Diya» portal)
  3. The Unified state web portal of digital education Diya. Digital education (autonomous component «Network of Hubs» and online component «National Education Platform»)
  4. Virtual economic zone Diya.City
  5. Diya. Business

It is noted that the flagship projects of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine today are Diya. Digital Education and Diya. Business.

The results of the successfully implemented eSignature project between Ukraine and Azerbaijan as part of the EU initiative «Eastern Partnership» were presented at the event, as well as the possibilities of Ukraine’s participation in the «Digital Europe» program (2021–2027), and the threats and challenges of Ukraine’s integration into the Digital Single Market.

More than 50 people took part in the event, including students of Lviv Polytechnic National University, academics, postgraduate students, members of the EUSTS project team and others. Representatives of other higher education institutions of Ukraine also joined the event, in particular, Professor Liudmyla Matviichuk, Kamianets-Podіlskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University. During the discussion, it was possible to discuss the possibility of financing the digital sphere through the resource potential of the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance for Ukraine from the EU, new frameworks of digital competences, cyber security issues, obtaining digital qualification improvement certificates for civil servants, placing higher education diplomas in the «Diya» application, etc.

The event was held within the framework of the project «European studies for students of technical specialties of Lviv Polytechnic National University (EUSTS), which is implemented with the support of the EU Erasmus+ program directed by Jean Monnet Actions (a series of public lectures). The project team sincerely expresses its gratitude to all the participants of the event and continues to work on the preparation of other, no less interesting events on the current topics of European integration of Ukraine and cooperation with the European Union.
