Several higher education institutions offer to obtain additional knowledge and a double diploma of one of the Lviv universities and one of its foreign partner universities. Among them there is Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The dual degree program has been operating at Lviv Polytechnic since 2015. During this time, about 300 students took part in the program. The selection of candidates according to the program is carried out by the competitive commission.
According to Nataliya Chukhray, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations of the University, programs can be organized for Bachelors, Masters and Doctors of Philosophy.
«The University has 36 agreements in various specialties with partners from various European countries. These are mostly agreements with universities in Poland, Germany, and Italy. The language of study under the program depends on what the partner institution offers, that is, which specialties are taught in the language of the country and which are taught in English. The student’s level of knowledge of the language should be sufficiently high, not lower than B2», says Nataliya Chukhray.
Education can be full-time or mixed. The study schedule of students is developed taking into account the calendar plans of studies at the University and partner universities. It is mandatory that during the agreement conclusion, a protocol of compliance of academic disciplines is developed, and it is the basis for re-enrollment of academic disciplines.
If a student studies on a commercial basis at Lviv Polytechnic National University, in most cases he does not pay extra money for studying under the program, but only pays the costs for obtaining a visa, insurance, accommodation, and food. However, depending on the requirements of the partner university, training can also be on a commercial basis, although this is not often the case.
One of the main stages of program implementation is the competitive selection of students. In particular, the candidate must have a success rating of at least 71 points and know foreign language stipulated in the agreement at the appropriate level necessary for training.
