The OPTIMA project team held its Training Workshop on Best Practices in Open Science and Open Educational Resources at the Technical University of Graz, Austria. The event involved a number of expert speakers such as Dr. Serge Horbach of Radboud University (Netherlands), Dr. Simone Kopeinik of the Know Center GmbH (Austria), Dr. Hilmar Brohmer and Dr. Gabriela Hofer of Graz Open Science Initiative, Dr. Tony Ross-Hellauer of TU Graz, and others – both in-person and remotely. Dr. Nicki Lisa Cole and Dr. Thomas Klebel of TU Graz also presented the results of a highly relevant PathOS project on how to study the impact of open science. The Open4UA project results building on OPTIMA outputs were presented by Dr. Oleksandr Berezko of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

The workshop offered many opportunities for the OPTIMA project team to discuss and reflect on the project's sustainability, future plans, and collaborations to emerge based on the work already done. One of the most important interventions was, undoubtedly, the presentation and discussion of the 'Report on academic integrity awareness and Open Science recognition levels in Ukraine (2021-2023),' a final analysis of the three-year large-scale study carried out by the OPTIMA project team. The analytical work led by Eva Kormann of TU Graz allows a deeper understanding of awareness, attitudes toward Open Science, and academic integrity among the Ukrainian academic community and will surely become an asset for policymakers, HEI leadership, and agents of change.
