First-year students studying Journalism at the Institute of Jurisprudence and Psychology had a chance to meet Natalya Devyatko, writer, journalist, member of the Writers’ Union of Ukraine and Journalists’ Union of Ukraine, academic in the field of Philosophy, researcher from Dnipro. The meeting was organized on March 16 by Olena Lan, Lviv Prague journalist.

The guest speaker delivered a rather unusual lecture on ancient archetype of Ukraine. She explained to students the meaning of political myth and how its transformation affects out conception of the world, what consequences it has for the life of the state.

This topic was important for journalists first of all because they understood how important it is to present information in a balanced way, without using stereotypes, which, in fact, can manipulate people’s consciousness.

In fact, we are ruled by archetypes or stereotypes. Let’s remember the Revolution of Dignity. In the most difficult period of time, Maidan turned into something very similar to Zaporizka Sich, and even sotni appeared. The same concerns the spirit of warriors – from Cossacks to modern ATO soldiers. We can see how many Cossack symbols have appeared now. This all originates in our subconsciousness and without our special understanding. Thus what we put into the information and what we reiterate, what we focus our attention on, sooner or later will be reflected on our cultural and spiritual level, which is the most important in our life because it forms our conception of the world vector, – Natalya Devyatko said. .

Very soon the lecture turned into a dialogue. It was interesting for students to share their own observations, and it was interesting for the lecturer to find out how future journalists perceive this or that topic.
