On February 6, 2021, within the framework of the XIV International School of Ukrainian Studies «Step to Ukraine» by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, the Discussion Club was held with Liudmyla Zborovska, an actress of the Lviv Theater of Popular Miniatures «I Liudy, I Lialky (Both People and Puppets)», researcher and performer of folklore, a member of the authentic music band Corali, a violinist in the community Dryg. The event was moderated by Olia Rusnak, School coordinator.
Students from Brazil, Germany, Kazakhstan, China and Serbia virtually visited the puppet theater, saw the stage panorama and the ground floor, how the theatre decorations are created and puppets, the main characters of the performances, are made.
Liudmyla Zborovska dispelled the myth that puppet theater is only for children. She told about their repertoire for adults with themes topical for mature audience. The actress showed different types of puppets, mechanisms which make them move and demonstrated the voices in which they speak. Liudmyla Zborovska also told the students about «authentic music» and sang an ancient carol.
At the Discussion Club students not only learned a lot of new and interesting things, but also studied a lot of theatre terms in Ukrainian, such as: poster, conductor, plot, etc., which, by the way, are often heard in everyday life.
