Lviv Polytechnicians meet with manufacturers of prosthetic and orthopedic products

In connection with the increase in the number of people with disabilities in Ukraine, the problem of qualified training of specialists in the manufacture of modern prostheses, which make people closer to function naturally, and their maintenance, is becoming extremely relevant today.

Recently, there has been a multilateral meeting of Lviv Polytechnic National University with representatives of the German Human Study e.V., the Superhumans Center, the Unbroken National Rehabilitation Center, the Andrei Krupynskyi Lviv Medical Academy, and the Arol Plus prosthetics and orthopedics enterprise. On behalf of Lviv Polytechnic, Oleh Matviikiv, First Vice Rector, Volodymyr Skorokhoda, Director of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Volodymyr Moravskyi, Deputy Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Plastics Processing, and Nataliia Semeniuk, the guarantor of the educational and professional program «Technology of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medical Products» took part in the event.

The purpose of the meeting was to develop cooperation in the field of medical rehabilitation, in particular physical rehabilitation (prosthetics) of military personnel and to ensure the quality of training of specialists in the development, design, production, operation, examination and certification of technical means of physical rehabilitation, biomedical products and biomaterials, orthoses, prostheses, in particular bionic and rehabilitation technologies.

The German Human Study e.V., is a non-for-profit organization specialized in blended distance-learning education in prosthetics and orthotics. It is accredited by the World Health Organization and the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO).

Human Study educational programs for training teachers/trainers in prosthetics and orthotics according to ISPO international standards were presented at the meeting. These programs are planned to be used to improve the educational programs developed at Lviv Polytechnic: «Technology of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medical Products», specialty 163 «Biomedical Engineering» for the bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
