The state organization «Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation» published the report «Intellectual property in numbers. Indicators of activity in the field of intellectual property for 2023». The document analyzes the main results of 2023, as well as the period of 2019–2023.
Despite the total collapse in 2022 (almost by 29%), caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation, the national economy demonstrated significant resilience and great potential for recovery and development, thanks to the joint efforts of the state, the Armed Forces, business, international partners and society as a whole.
The situation in the field of intellectual property naturally reflects general macroeconomic trends. Thus, in comparison to the indicators of 2022, the total number of applications for industrial property objects increased to 32,759 applications, that is by 47.6%.
The increase of applications in 2023 is a clear indication of the activation of the researchers and business and is a consequence of positive expectations regarding the development of the economic, political and social situation in Ukraine.
Among the higher educational institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the most active in 2023 were:
- Vinnytsia National Technical University – 138 applications;
