At such a difficult time for our Motherland, support from our foreign partners is especially valuable, and not only in a militarily field. That is why the cooperation agreement between Lviv Polytechnic National University and the Sapienza University of Rome was signed. It is a continuation of many years of joint work of our Universities.

The Sapienza University of Rome is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Italy and it is an honour for Lviv Polytechnic to document the mutual desire to cooperate in educational, scientific and cultural fields. Italian colleagues noted that today we have extensive experience in working together on projects, exchange of students and teachers, and this document will further expand and develop our cooperation.

This position is shared by representatives of our University: Rector of Lviv Polytechnic Yurii Bobalo, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations Nataliya Chukhray, Head of the Center for International Education Nataliia Gots and Head of the Leonardo da Vinci Center for Italian-Ukrainian Cooperation Orest Vasylko.

«Cooperation with Italian universities is a strategic direction of Lviv Polytechnic’s international activities. We have signed 14 international agreements on educational, scientific and cultural cooperation with Italian universities, in addition to working together with the Italian Chamber of Commerce. The coronavirus pandemic has a little bit slowed down this process, but we are in constant contact. The military actions between Russia and Ukraine, which are now actively unfolding, also affect our work. But we hope that this cooperation will develop in all areas of our activity», said Yurii Bobalo.

Yurii Bobalo also said that Lviv Polytechnic has long been cooperating with the Sapienza University of Rome and this issue is regulated by a number of previously signed agreements. This includes Interinstitutional Agreement within the Erasmus+ programme, under which our research and teaching staff traveled to Rome to teach and students to study at the Sapienza University, working directly with the University’s Center for Transport and Logistics. As well as agreement between the Centers for International Education and the International Offices of our Universities. That is, there is reason to hope that the cooperation of our Universities, which already has certain traditions and results, will become closer.
