Natalia, the wife of Oleksandr Rudermel, Deputy Director of the Prosvita People’s House of Lviv Polytechnic, addressed the university community with this request. Before that, their relative Ihor Marzoiev had initiated the fundraising on social networks, and Lviv Polytechnic readily supported it.
For this purpose, the bands of the People’s House organised two big concerts in the Assembly Halls in the main and first academic buildings, and the Khochu (I Do Want) Theatrical Studio prepared a performance «Eight Loving Women» which was shown in the Officers’ House.
– Oleksandr Rudermel provided the technical specifications, the make and model of the thermal imager needed by the brigade where he serves. I am pleased that with these funds we managed to buy an improved series – PRO, which has improved resolution and more functions», says Volodymyr Shepitchak, Head of the Department of Labor Protection at Lviv Polytechnic.
According to Mr Shepitchak, social media users donated a little more than half of the amount for the ThermTec Cyclops 650 thermal imager, which cost UAH 80,400, and Lviv Polytechnic contributed the other half collected at concerts and a performance. The remaining money of Polytechnic will be added to the next purchase.
– We quite often receive orders from our soldiers for expensive items, such as thermal imagers, drones and vehicles. Therefore, trusted suppliers already know us and often offer discounts. It is important for us to get high-quality equipment with a long warranty, because it saves the lives of our soldiers and helps to destroy the enemy and thus bring our long-awaited victory closer», sums up Volodymyr Shepitchak.
