Every year on the third Thursday of May, we mark Vyshyvanka Day. The University celebrated it in its main building. There was a performance of artistic amateur bands of the Prosvita People’s House, reminding everyone present about the importance of cherishing our nation’s traditions.
The presenters began the event saying that today’s feast is dedicated to preserve the old traditions of the Ukrainian people. Therefore, Lviv Polytechnic marks this day with an impromptu concert. In songs and poems, it was said that the embroidered shirt is an important part of Ukrainian national clothing, which reflects the code of the nation, and the wealth of folk motifs, symbols and traditions. The performance promoted the idea of patriotism, unity and readiness to fight for the native land. At the end, there were words of gratitude to everyone who came in embroidered clothes and in such a way supported the traditions of the Ukrainian people.
In addition to the concert, this year’s Vyshyvanka Day will also be remembered for the flash mob held by the Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development. Employees and students of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Environmental Management gathered near the monument to Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi. Together they sang the solemn songs "Bozhe velykyi yedynyi" and "Oi u luzi chervona kalyna". They were joined by members of the Prosvita People’s House. "The light rain did not affect the event, as we all remember that it is much more difficult for our defenders on the front line", said the organizers.
